A one-man recording of Vivaldi’s ‘The Four Seasons’.

This exciting new version of the Italian composer’s seminal work not only features the first ever recordings of the accompanying poems written by Vivaldi, but Jonathan Hill plays every instrument on the album; violin, viola, cello and harpsichord.

Produced by long standing collaborator Tim Arnold, each season is punctuated with a reading of the original poems, with actor Stephen Fry beginning the proceedings in a unique performance of ‘Spring’, followed by actress Leah Gayer - 'Summer', performer Tim Arnold - 'Autumn' and actress Ann Mitchell - 'Winter'.

The solo violin used on the recording is the 1792 Domenico Montagnana, and the ensemble was created by multi-tracking the 1742 Stradivarius, the 1697 Stradivarius, 1842 Jean-Baptise Vuillaume, an 1845 John “Jack” Frederick Lott, a C1760 Giovanni Battista Guadagnini, and a C1800 Giovanni Rota.
