Statement from Tim 2017, December 21st

In a year that has presented tragedies in all corners of the world, I respond as I always do: with my music, as it’s the only way I have ever been able to make sense of everything, communicating, instantly, a reaction that comes straight from my heart. From two dear friends, Kathy and Michael who both lost their homes in terrible fires, to the criminal and tragic events of Grenfell and even the marginalisation of the LGBT community and a much needed reawakening for women’s equality, there seems to be a thread tying all of this together, and that would appear to be that more than ever, people are fighting for their right to belong or struggling to hold on to what rightfully belongs to them.

In the midst of the tragedies where people have lost their homes, The Red Cross have, as they always have, been there to find those people who are lost, so it feels right to make their organisation the natural beneficiary of any revenue from the sales of this song. The song was inspired by the news of my friend Kathy Hahn who lost her home due to a suspected arson attack on Syrian refugees who lived in her block of flats. Again, The Red Cross have also been there consistently throughout their history to protect and rehouse refugees all over the world. I’ve teamed up with the Camerata Chamber Choir from the Isle of Wight to record this song and with the help of the community on the island, managed to cobble together a video.
